Clara Breed Civil Liberties Lecture Featuring Shereen Marisol Meraji

March 23  /  6:30 – 8 pm  /  Central Library
Award-winning journalist, educator, and UC Berkeley professor Shereen Marisol Meraji will deliver the 2nd Annual Clara Breed Civil Liberties Lecture, named after the heroic former San Diego Public Library director Clara E. Breed. Meraji is a founder and co-creator of Code Switch, NPR's critically acclaimed and high-charting podcast covering race, culture and identity. Growing up in an Iranian-American and Puerto Rican home where no one spoke in hushed tones, the rhythms and cadences of life have inspired her story pitches, storytelling style, and reportage. This event will be in-person as well as livestreamed on the San Diego Public Library YouTube channel.
